? about Maxi Balls

I was going through a box of BP stuff that I got with my used gun and found some boxes of unlubricated 45 Cal. T/C Maxi-Balls (240 gr). I only have a 50 cal rifle so I was wondering if it is possible shoot these little jewels using a .451 sabot. I mean, I am sure it is possible, I guess what I mean is it safe and is there any chance of accuracy. I would probably just be range shooting with them.

If they are .451-.452 in diameter I am sure you could put them in a sabot and shoot them down range. What they might do for accuracy, only range time would tell. It would not be dangerous, just a shame to waste a good maxi ball.

Remember, I'm new to this game. Are maxi-balls a good round. A lot of people use them? These are unlubricated, what would a box of 20 be worth if I was going to try and sell/trade them? I have five boxes of them. Maybe I should see if they are accurate and go from there.

Box of 20 can be picked up around here for just under $9. And heck yeah, some ML shoot maxiballs very well.
