Default New Gun (non-BP)

I know thisisn't the right forum but you all seem to appreciate new purchases. I have a usedMarlin 1895G on its way from MI to my local Gander Mnt. in IA. I can't wait but Iam getting a little anxious. I thought it would have been here by now since it supposedly shipped last Monday.

What caliber did you get? I have drooled over that same rifle. I almost bought one of the Guide Guns stainless steel models. It was a .450 caliber Marlin and was pretty sharp.

Cherokee - you will be happy with it I'm sure. I love mine in 45-70. It's a joy to carry and I've taken 3 bear with mine with as many shots. In fact I was just out shooting mine today. I got a new Bushnell 1.75 - 4X scope on it with the Circle X crosshairs. Looks like that will be a good reticle for fast target acquisition in the heavy woods I hunt.

I like the .45-70 round. I havean original Springfield Trapdoor, a Pedersoli Sharps '74,anda Winchester 1886 andshoot and love them all. The Wincester is a Miroku and beantiful. It is the sport model with round barrel andshort magazine. I only shoot BP cartridgesin the Trapdoor. It is an 1888 rod bayonet model made in1889. I love shooting anhistorical piece. I just only wish it could tellit'sstory.

I'm a fan of the 45-70 too. I'm also a single-shot rifle kind of guy. Here's my Browning 1885.
