Default Encore w BH209 90grs w/target

I tried 3 diffrent bullets today all with 90grs volume of Black Horn 209 w CCI 209M primers. All shot at 110 yards.

1st 300 gr Hornady sst low drag in red sabot. Loading pressure was inconsistent which reflected in the group 8-10" Also I noticed the petals on the sabot were breaking off after firing.

2nd 300 gr Hornadt xtps in a green sabot. Loading pressure was consistent with a 3 shot group at 1 1/2"

3rd 300 gr Speer flat point with Knight black sabot loading pressure was stout but consistent 3 shot group opened up to 5" But at that point the wind picked up and my eyes started to water so perhaps if I took more time groups could improve.

I edited to show 300XTP target says you can only have one attachment.

Encore Pro Hunter w 1.5-5 Simmons pro Diamond scope.
32 degrees 10 -15 mph wind I don't know how Cayugad does it!!!

Cleanup was easy even the breach plug using Hopps and pipe cleaners and HD Q-tips.

Rock Fish

This is a really good tutorial on posting - all the pictures make it seem a little difficult but it really is easy once you post one pic...

It sounds like you have some good groups there.. that should be a good load with that powder.

It seems the Encores really shoot those XTPs good if not great!

Hey Rockfish, I'm glad I'm not the only guy who didn't get stupendous with every bullet and load and Blackhorn. My best BH groups just about matched my best T7 groups, and I also got some 5, 6 and 7" groups with some loads.

Semisane, What kind of bird is that? I think I'll take the bird feeder down! Have you tried the Hornady SST's ? I was surprised iwith the petals breaking off the sabots.

I tried the 300gr sst, and they shot good. Nothing shot close to the 250g SST or Shockwave with the harvester short black and 95gBH209. I only shot about 9 of the red easy loads sabots, but they just slid down the barrel way to easy, not the kind of seal for BH209, i didnt even pay attention to the sabots, with the way they loaded i wasnt going to be using them anymore.
