Has anyone used this Sabot for longrange shots on Whitetals, say out to 150+yds or longer? I usually use the TC XTP Mag 240Gr. Sabots with no problems and they are devestating so Im keeping my first ACCURA set up with these and 150Gr. of Pyrodox.But Im setting up my newest CVA ACCURA for long range shots and the Barnes 250Gr. Spitfire TMZ's seem to be a good choice for flat shooting and prefromance in taking Deer Down. I prefer a magnum load of 3-pellets of Pyrodx, but Im looking for the best accuracy and flatter shooting.I will lighten the load down to 120 if I have to. Im also thinking of changing the powder pellets to the new Triple Seven Mag's any advice on this setup?

If you get the Barnes TMZs to shoot you will have probably the best bullet out there (expensive though). I never could get them to do well in my Mustang and my brother-in-law couldn't get them to shoot well in his Knight.

the 240gr xtp in maybe an MMP-12 or MMP-24 sabot would be a good starting point. I'd get it sighted in with that and grouping, then move to your higher priced bullets.
Money is no problem, I love the 240gr. XTP Mag's they work great and Im keeping my first ACCURA with them. But my second ACCURA I want long range, I got the new Leupold Ultimate Slam Muzzleloader Scope for the second ACCURA and want long shots for Coyotes and the possible big Buck standing in the Cornfirld at 150+yds. I just want a long range flat shooting sabot that will do some damage and compliment the new scope

+1. I tried them in my Savage, and they were not grouping well. Many say that the boat tail design doesn't work well in MLer because of the sabot. The fact that Barnes just came out with the flat based TMZ called the T-EZ says their is some truth to that. I would shoot the T-EZ in a MLer. I noticed just a few minutes ago that Mid South had them in their ML bullets with sabots section on their web site. For long range shooting the TMZ is the best, the Barnes Origonal, the Parker Ballistic Extreme, SW 300g, Harvester PT Gold should also be consider if your looking for long range bullets. I tried them all in my Savage. I shot PBE last year, good accurate bullet, fraged a bit on frontal shots.
I shot the Barnes Origonal 300g this year, very tough bullet, maybe too tough on Whitetails. No problem on bone hits, frontal shots, etc. Large following of Barnes Origonals in the Savage Forum.
A lot of folks shoot PBE, in 45cal sabotless, the PBE is .4505 in diameter, which is "just right for 45 cal barrels. Chap

OK, shoot the 200g SW then since your target is Cayotes and sometimes a big buck. Lee loves them and has had great performance with them, he can give you the scoop. Chap

They shoot well in my Knight LRH. I have had this rifle for 2 years and have shot 4 deer with the bullets. I was not overly impressed with the bullets. And they are ridiculously expensive. They shot very well in my LRH. But I will not buy any more once these are gone. I have had better luck with cast bullets on deer, so I am going back to my cast bullets. Personally I do not think the bullets are worth the price. Tom.

Hey Head, that may be the first ever report I've seen of someone being disappointed in a Barnes. The Barnes TSX is the only bullet I will shoot in my 25-06. What turned you off with the TMZ?

seems like every year i change bullets ..to find something that will nail a deer in it's tracks ..i like to practice with HORNADY SST on the range ..but not for hunting ...i will try the BARNES TMZ 250gr this year ..yes i know they cost more but i will only use them for hunting [i can only shoot 1 deer ] so cost means nothing to me in a hunting situation ..if they are good i will try them on caribou this fall . maybe even on moose ..
