Default Any Genesis owners have a Nikon Omega mounted?

I already have a Nikon ProStaff 3-9X40 mounted on my black/blue Genesis and it fits great! Plenty of eye relief and just clears the rear rifle site. I'm looking at getting a Nikon Omega for the Buckmasters Genesis and want to make sure it will fit good before I do. My concern is that it's about 2 inches shorter than the ProStaff and I'm worried it will not be able to clear the rear rifle site on the barrel. I don't really want to remove the site unless I have to. So do any of you Genesis owners have an Omega and if so, what base(s)/rings do you have and how does it fit???

I did some reading on the two scopes you mention. You said the 3-9x40mm Pro Staff mounted on a Genesis and it fits perfect. The Pro Staff is 12.3 inches long and it makes it behind the sight. The Omega is 11.3 inches long. So being shorter then the Pro Staff, it should fit just fine without removing the rear sight. Also that Omega has some impressive eye relief to it. I looked all this up on Planet Optics. I have been drooling over there ata Leupold that I am thinking of getting...

The ProStaff doesn't fit behind the rear sight. It goes over the top of it and the way it declines fits right over the rear sight with about 1/8" space. My concern is that the Omega is 1" shorter and I may not be able to move it far enough forward to clear the sight. Or maybe the 1" it doesn't have is in the rear where the extra eye relief is....

You will need to calculate the difference in eye relief to see where it will set. Lee

Well, I took my Genesis to Bass Pro with me today. It has the Traditions high scope rings already mounted on it. I asked to see one of their Omegas and I tried to fit it on the rings. There is absolutely no way the Nikon Omega will fit on the Genesis using these rings without removing the rear sight. So I guess I answered that question. Now I'm debating whether or not I should remove the rear sight and mount the Omega or leave it and mount a Buckmasters Nikon.

I have the Buckmaster version and I bought the Omega from Natchez($149). I tried a few setups and found the Gorilla grip see-thru mounts to be the best. Now let me tell you I own no other see-thru mount, never liked them.... but on this gun it looks good. A few other have also said that those T.C. see-thrus are not your typical looking3inch high mounts.
Today was my first time shooting the gun and I am no writer like others on this site but the Gun and scope preformed awesome. I am and very happy with the scope.. all i own is Nikons and my slug gun has the 2x7 prostaff. Omega just is better all around no doubt.

I noticed that Natches has the Omega on sale for $149.00 and I sure thought about getting one. If not for the Genesis, maybe the Black Diamond or one of the others. But most of the inlines have Nikons of Bushnell Elites on them. But it never hurts to have another scope around the house. Especially one of that quality and for that price.

This is just my Opinion, but for the money, and the two are just about the same, as I already purchased one, get a Leupold Ultimate Slam ML Scope with the (SABR) reticle. On the Leupold you have a choice of (3) different (load) settings. One for a 2-Pellet Setting, one for a 3-Pellet Setting and one for a Shotgun. As with the Nikon you only have the one setting as tested with a 250gr. bullet and a 150gr's of powder. The Leupold also comes with a FREE Scope Cover a $20 Value and FREE Shipping from Cabela's. Cabela's has the Leupold for $269 and the Omega for $259. For all you get and more options the Leupold seems to be a much better value for your money, and it's a Leupold. The length of the Leupold is 12.3". And yes, I love the one I have!

So if I decided to remove the rear sight and go with the Omega, would that still be safe? I know the rear sight screw is drilled and tapped into the barrel. Would that create a not so strong spot in the barrel being that that screw is no longer there? Or should I remove the sight and re-install the screw?

Wow Dave, are you sure the Omega is on sale for $149 ?? a good price if it is, but then again, the Leupold has taken the Nikon Customers away with the Ultimate Slam, I think mabey because of the more features of the Leupold. Again, M.O.
