Default Lyman Pin Wedge

Hey Guys,

My dad has a Lyman Deer Stalker and has had it for many years..He recently noticed that the pin wedge was missing. He thinks this has happened before. Has anybody has a similae experience? Is it possible that it is like anything else, and it needs to be replaced? Somebody told him to put a zip tie through the hole and that should hold, but we think that is a bad idea...Any input?

JKC

Get another wedge pin from Lyman. Bend a slight curve in the wedge pin. That will keep it in place.

a zip tie? who's the redneck thats giving you this kind of horrible advice?

You need to call lyman and order a new wedge pin for it.

Zip tie.. HA! thats almost as bad as a farmer telling you to use bailing wire to hold a wheel on.

If the gun has 2 pins I can see how one could come loose, especially if one were more bent or curved than the other. Once he has the new one, and if the gun has 2 pins, try to get them so they are both under the same tension when in place.

A zip tie may help keep the barrel from falling out of the stock, but shooting like that is not a great idea, even with ramrod in place. Bailing wire on the other hand, would work just fine.......jk.

A zip tie? Boy oh boy. Any true redneck will tell you that you should use duct tape... Geez.
PA where you at. There are a lot of gun shops around that carry the replacement wedge pins.

Thanks, for the input, but I didn'y say that we used the zip tie, someone (strange, dumb) recommended to do that. I work in law enforcement and am a firearms instructor and know better than to do something like that. It was more geared toward getting a few laughs.....

Bailing wores has stood ifor many a fix, almost as much as duct tape.
