I'm going to assume that will/is going to be a new bullet. If it shoots like the Shockwave/SST that will be great, my Triumph loves them with a Harvester CR.Also, will be lighter on the wallet.

It isprobablyin the new family of Hornadybullets. Hornady has gone ape over soft plastic stuffed into the front ends of bullets.

Thislink is for the new 265 grain .430 bullet. Sure is pricy when compared to the older 265 grain FP. Nearly all of usmuzzleloader folks overlook that 265 grain FP. Have a serious hunter friend who uses it exclusively on deer, hogs, black bear and elk. Nearly all his shots are bang flops. That bulletwas designed for the .444 Marlin.

Hi All:

Happy New YR!!!

IMHO: I personal have little or no use for a hollow point bullet in a big game hunting situations, the polymer tipped of FPT bullets are just Hollow points with a filler plug. The megaplat of these 265 g Bullets will be far more effective on game IMHO than any polymer tipped explosive bullet. You might even find these bulk packed Blemished Bullets on Midway's site of great Interest!

How fast do you have to push those 265 grainers?

They are about the same price as with sabots, in fact pay $6 for 50 sabots and your at $40 for 50 shots, which is about what you can get SW for from TC.

http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=000308230has them for $9.94 for 15 that includes the sabot.

I am assuming FP means flat point, i.e. large meplat bullet makes big splash in flesh. At $40 per 100 that is a lot better price than the SW or SST. 444 Marlin and 45/70 rifle bullets are GREAT to shoot out of a MLer, just mate with the right sabot.

Most of the 45/70 and .444 Marlin loads are right at 2000 fps, which is MLer speeds.

Lee- Since Hornady came out with their Leverevolution line they have been getting a lot of requests from handloaders to bulk package. This opens up a lot of range time for us ML'ers who want to play with new stuff.

Chap,
What volume load of say 777,or B209, would get that 265 grainer up around 2000fps?
