RE: T/C Triumph with a bad barrel
We were mapping out bullets and loads for next years elk hunt. The loads ranged from 90g to 130g of 777 lose powder, and we were using 777 primers.
the bullets we shot that day were T/C's Maxi hunter in 350g, Hornadays Great Plains in 385g and Vital impact sabots in 330g. I swab the barrel with T/C No. 13 patches and 2 dry patches between every shot.
The gun was shoting great and the groups were staying tight. moved my target out to 100 yards took 3 shots more and the group was still within 1 inch. started another group of 3 and I missed the target by 1 1/2 ft to the left and 1 1/2 ft high. Tried this same shot with all 3 bullets and got the same result, only the shots were getting more and more spread out....Figured it was me and it was time to stop shooting for the day. has we were cleaning up our stuff I had all ready pulled the breach plug cleaned the gun and was going to put it away when I thought oh heck I'll take 1 more shot. On the last shot the gun loaded fine, but when I pulled the trigger the gun shuttered like the scope was loose..and that is what i figured it was. the shot was off the mark by some 6 1/2 feet from where I had aimed. Stuck the gun in the case and went home to clean it from top to bottom, that is when I noticed the buldge in the barrel and the crack all the way around the inside of the barrel.
