From my understanding, primarily the construction of the action. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but my Omega circa 2003 has the recoil lugs welded to the barrel and set screws on the action pins for easy removal. My understanding is that the Z5 has lugs that are screwed to the barrel only and a pin setup that makes it harder to work on the action.
Now, my X7 also has lugs that are screwed not welded. So I wonder if this is something all of the newer Omegas have, someone with a newer standard Omega will have to chime in.
Basically they cut a few corners on the Z5 to bring the price down. For the average shooter, I don't think it's a big deal and worth the cheaper price.
I never knew that about the rear lugs.. maybe I better check my Black Diamond XR.. that's interesting.
