Default Spin jag

Just wondering what would be the difference between the spin jag and a regular jag being backed off from the rodto allow spin?

A spin jag is going to spin easier than a regular jag backed off and trying to spin on the threads.

I'm actually going to cut the end off my ramrod, tap it for 10/32 threads and permanently install a spinjag.

It's going to be the ramrod for my Remington Genesis. I'm just going to give the ramrod and the spinjag to a professional machinist that my dad is buddies with and let him work his magic. I have no doubt he'll be able to do it, but I have a spare ramrod if something unexpected happens.

I'm interested in how this works out, as I'm not crazy with the rod supplied with the Genesis. What length, in relation to the length of the standard rod unextended, will you make the rod?

I'm going to try and make it identical length so I can still holster it on the rifle. But of course I will lose the ability to extend it.

SWT, you got a great idea with giving the rod to a machinist! i did the same...

for the life of me, i couldnt find a non-breakable rod tapped 10-32 on BOTH ends....everything i use is 10-32....with my longer jag on, its PERFECT sized...and i can take it off and put any of my accessories on it(brush, patch puller, ball screw, whatever...) and the other end i can screw on my T starter for cleaning or pulling balls....

i pull alot of balls...i like to pull my load pretty much daily just to ensure i got a fresh charge the next day...no questions or wondering if it will go off...hated cleaning just because i fired 1 shot to empty the gun...so i started pulling my balls...

my setup works great!

The only problem with backing off the regular jag is that if you are not careful during loading or cleaning with this 'loose' jag is that it may break on you and get stuck in the barrel. A better alternative is to us a screw in "T" handle on the other end of the rod and loosen that during loading. If it breaks, its no big deal except the couple $$ to replace it.
