I am guessing the deer dropped in their tracks but was flopping around when you got up to it. You broke it down it looks like. And the bullet looks like it did a good job... thanks for the photos.

Yup, thats exactly what happened. I saw him drop at the 1st shot ,which took out the tops of both scapulas and two vertabre, I quickly reloaded and walked up slowly, he looked stone dead at 1st, but when I got a little closer, he tried to get up and I gave him the 2nd, which you can see, went though all the vitals and tore up his liver and both lungs. Tough SOB still kicked about a minute.

I'm extremely happy w/ SWs and see no reason to change.

glad that u got your deers ...i got 2 also but i had to go after them ,they both ran as if not hit at all ..no blood trail ,lucky for me i had snow on the ground ,made tracking easy . they both ran away for 75 to 100 yards before dropping dead ..i used 250 gr. HORNADY SST with T7 powder ...in my T/C ENCORE ..both were hit in vital spot ,complete pass-through and not a drop of blood on the snow ...i will now switch over to BARNES TMZ 250 gr. from what i read they give a good blood trail ...

I wonder how the Barnes Spit Fire TMZs match up accuracy wise with the S/Ws. I see the weights are very close and they look almost identical minus the boattail. Anyone tried to alternate the 290 Spit Fire TMZ for the 300 S/W for POI change?
