I am amazed at how many bullets you guys find. Do you use a metal detector, or what?? We shoot a bunch of deer, and we have only found a few of the bullets. I must be doing something wrong. However the freezer is always full?? I will have to start looking a little harder. But it just seems like most of my bullets go through both sides, and I always hold on the shoulder. I like to break them down on the spot. It is difficult for me to track a deer, so DRT is a good thing, and a center to high shoulder shot is definitely a DRT shot. Tom.

Took a 150 lbs doe (dressed weight) at 24 yards this weekend. 250 Shockwave yellow tip (non-bonded) over two pellets of 777 out of the TC Truimph. Deer was quartering hard towards me and the shot hit the front shoulder, destroyed the lungs and ended up just under the skin behind the opposite side ribs. The deer was knocked over at the shot. Managed to get back to her feet and made it 20 yards before hitting the dirt. No blood trail as the bullet did not exit. The bullet was recovered and mushroomed perfectly with no apparent fragmentation. Entrance hole in the hide was small, but the damage inside felt huge. I am going to take the hide off tonight and take some pictures of the entrance hole and bullet. I am also going to weigh the bullet once I have a chance to clean it up a bit.

I shot another doe this weekend with the 250g yellow tip shockwave with 2 T7 pellets. The doe was 80 yards broadside and I shot her through the ribcage. When the smoke cleared all I could see were feet sticking up in the air. The deer kicked a few times and it was over. The bullet went directly through the rib cage not touching either shoulder. The lungs and liver were completely destroyed. There was blood sprayed on the snow several feet back from where the deer had been standing.
A buddy of mine was also using the 250g shockwaves this weekend with 3 T7 pellets. He shot two does. One through the neck, complete pass thru DRT. Another high shoulder and spine, DRT.
Another member of our party shot a nice 8 point through the base of the neck with a 250g shockwave and 3 T7 pellets. He completely missed the spine and vitals. The deer dropped in its tracks and layed there for several minutes. When he went to recover the deer it got up and walked away. He backed out at that point. We went back about 3 hours later and found the deer bedded but sitting up about 30 yards from where it had dropped and required a finishing shot. The wound in the neck was massive but had missed the spine. The bullet I would say did its job, the problem was poor shot placement.
Daughters doe 200SW 90BH209 Win primer 110Yards , Knocke ddeer down, then ran 50 yards. She shot alittle back and high. Bullet exited, massive internal damage.

During the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 deer seasons, I was using a Ruger 77/50, 85 gr FFFg T7, and the 250 gr SST. The combination did just fine on seven deer.
This season, I am using a Knight Wolverine 209 in .45 cal with 110 gr Blackhorn 209 and the 200 gr SST. This combination has worked real well on four deer so far.
I have read about the alledged problems with the SST's but I have not experienced anything but very good results. The ranges where from 10 yards to close to 200 yards. All were broadside shots catching the heart and/or lungs.
Well Done Reese!! Those 200g Shockwaves are the BOMB
Just thought I'd add this doe for the record, copied and pasted from my other post
My son and I got out today! The weather went from 11* yesterday, to a balmy 58* [8D]
I was loaded the 45cal Disc Elite with 120g BH209 and 200g Shockwave with Tan Sabot
Anyways, We set up a new ladder stand before daybreak this morning. I got to sit in it, and Tim went to another site about .25 miles away. Didn't see anything but birds and squirrels til about 10am. Had 2 does fly by at mach-3, about 80yards to my right. So I figured somebody was pushing them my way. I kept scanning that side, and about 10min later a mature doe came sneaking thru, walking very slowly. I waited til she broke into a small opening and took the shot. She stumbled and lurched about 10yards, and I lost sight of her from some big cotton wood trees. I didn't see her go past the big trees, so I figured she was down.
My son came back and we walked over ta see if we needed to do some tracking...Nope! She had wobbled around in a little 30yard circle and dropped 15yards from the initial shot.
Slightly quartering away shot, took one rib going in and missed them going out, turned everything to jello
8:15am 12/30/08; Clanged a big doe finally! shot was 55yds broadside w/250shockwave, 90gr T7ff out the .50 disc elite. She ran 74 paces, bloodtrail a blindman could follow!! Tween the ribs going in, blew the top of the heart, took a rib going out, spray big time!! Pal of mine shot a big doe bout 350yds from me, 10mins before I shot. His was w/a White mod 97, 70gr 3f swiss, 460 bullshop .504, 40yds right in the gourd, DRT!!
