Default WHAT LOADS DO YOU FEED OMEGA

Just purchased a new omega, MyGuncenter said they like triple 7 pellets and 250 gr shockwaves . Do you guys find better accuracy w/ 150 or 100 gr loads? My shots will generally be maybe 125 at the very longest I am pretty much a rookie I usually hunt late season w/ bow but thought this was a good enough excuse to buy a new toy while adding a bit of range over the Hoyt any info in regards to hints that will allow me to shoot better cleaner are much appreciated!

I personally shoot 100 grains of Pyrodex out of my Omega, but I'm still working on getting her dialed in.

Well I hunt Stuben Co NY during "shotgun season" with my MLer and I use 100g of loose 777 and Nosler Partition 300g with a crushed rib sabot. If you wanna shoot cleaner shoot Blackhorn 209, I shoot 100g of that with a Barnes MZ and the supplied sabot. I shot the Traditions brand of the Barnes MZ which I bought on Sale this past summer. With Blackhorn 209 I did not have to swab, but with 777 I have to swab between each shot to maintain accuracy. I would not use the SW with less than 125 yards shot, they were designed for shot in the 200 yards and furter range with a MLer. You can do 200 yards MPBR with that bullet, but with woods hunting in NY you need a strong heavy weight bullet not one that is designed to go a long ways in open fields.

Matt- when I was shooting SST 250's I used 115gr 777/2fg I shoot the 260 Nosler with 105gr 777/3fg you have to experiment to find what load your rifle will shoot best. Start at 90 or 100 gr and work up until your group starts to open, then back off. The Omega usually works out to be between 100 and 120 depending on powder primer and bullet/sabot combo. It will shoot almost any bullet well.

Great advice, I think picking the sabot is important in the Omega also, I have had great accuracy with the Crushed Rib sabot, they are only $5.50 at Midsouth shooters supply, the MMP are $7.95.
