First shot was a flinch I thought it was going to have a kick to it with the 24" barrel, 70gr pyrodex RS and 285gr Buffalo conical. Surprised the heck out of me that it didn't even kick! Rifle does have a good deal of trigger creep so i am going to hit it with some Molly lube and just shoot it.
Looks like its going to be dead on @ 100 yards. This was only 25 yards.
That's a pretty rifle. My .45 GM LRH shoots 200 gr 40 cal XTPs and Harvester EZ Load sabots with 80 gr of Pyrodex P very well out to 100 yds.
70 grs was good at 25 and 50 yds. but I was shooting too high at 100 yds. I boosted the charge up 10 grs to see what would happen and for some reason, the bullets hit lower at 100 yds and right where I wanted them.
These BP guns are fun to shoot. I enjoy all of mine.
Good luck with yours.

They say that .45s are not popular. My .45 TC Hawken is the most accurate of all my sidelocks!! Just got my pkg of powerbelts from zrider today. More range time, !!!!
Maybe tomorrow, Took the, new to me , disc to the range today. 4 shots ton get it on at 25m, 1' low and left at 50m, started stacking them. moved to 100m 1st 1 low and left. close , then the wind picked up. it would fill my footprints walking back and forth. howling out the sw! shootin s to n. Close, this rifle has potential!! Darn wind!! More later.
I like my .45s. Plenty of power for the biggest buck in the woods with those conicals. One muley field dressed 174 lbs. shot with a .45 Kentucky and homecast 250 gn Maxi-Ball.
Good to see another .45 sidelockshooter posting!
