Default Got a few questions about an Encore .45

First. I was wondering if the .45 cal muzzleloader was built on the same frame as the 50 cal, and if so if i could still interchange barrels for all the rifle and shotguns barrels??

Second. What are some of the pro's and cons of the 45 cal?? i have shot the 50 for years and believe that the 45 is flatter shooting, what about knock down, and long range. Bullet availability??

Third. What do you think a used one in excellent condition is worth. Its black on stainless with a cheap 3x9 scope??

Thanks in advance for all your help. Brad

My father has one. I do not know about switching barrels. He likes his a lot and it seems to do a good job on deer. The bullet selection is limited, I have a 50 cal and like that better only because it is easier to find bullets for it. It is flatter shooting but most of our shots are 50 yards so it really doesn't matter.

I would guess it is the same size frame. Manufacturers generally take every opportunity to save money by making fewer parts. I could be wrong through.

It is the same frame and will take the same barrels. The single biggest advantage of a .45 (IMHO) is the ready availability of suitable molds for casting your own bullets. If you don't think you would be into that effort - there is really none (except for the G2 Contender - a different story).

Guess on worth - about 400. Make sure to run a tight fitting patch down the bore and feel for any inconsistencies in the rifling. Some of the early stainless .45s had LOUSY washboard barrels.
