Default Black Pearl Strike AGAIN!

Saturday afternoon it was time to go hunting. I am taking my middle son (13) with me to my blind....trying to get him his 1stdeer. My oldest son(17) is going to my dads place and wants to take my muzzleloader (The Black Pearl). He has only shot it a couple times at paper, but knows how to shoot and can shoot well.

Well me and my middle son had "0" luck as when we get in the blind, the neighbors are running chain saws and cutting wood about 300 yards away. My oldest is texting me on/off and is seeing nothing. Then he stops texting.....and the phone rings in a few minutes. "I got one Dad, she is down....she is down Dad!"He was very pumped up.

Me & my middle sondrive the 5-6 milesover to wherehim and the deer are. It is now dark and we walk out in the field where she lays and it's a HUGE doe. He hit her right in the heartfrom80+ yards away. GREAT SHOT!

My son was proud to keep the Black Pearl's streak alive. It's been fired 7 times at deer and harvested 7 deer.

Uncle Norby, the FPB did a great job this time. Like I said he hit her right behind the front leg and it blew the top 1/3 of her heart apart. It hit dead center of a rib causing a BIGhole. It went through and exited with a little smaller hole. It also seemed to cut into her off side rib cage with the piece of rib bone it hit as there was another big gash from it. She didn't go more than 20 yards...running dead.

My oldest now understands why I love hunting with the Black Pearl. How GREAT it shoots, how nice the scope is (Nikon ProStaff). How easy the trigger is and how darn accurate it is.

He's been hooked on deer hunting a while now, BUT he is also hooked on hunting with the smoke pole!

Awesome job by son #1.

Good job by the FPB too. Sounds like it did its job with entry and exit hole, some bones hit along the way. Again, we don't know whether it mushroomed or not or if it held together completely, but that's not really my concern with a bullet that starts out at .50". I want full penetration and FPBs seem to get it done. I havemy own FPB story that I'll post.

Congratulations to your son and the Black Pearl. Those Nikon Pro Staff scopes are sure a good scope. They are one of my favorite. It sounds like your son did everything right and placed that bullet perfect. And Uncle Norby is right.. a 1/2 hole to start with is hard to argue with. Especially with pass through. Now your #2 son needs to get his hands on that lucky Black Pearl...

By the way, I hear muzzleloaders make excellent Christmas Gifts..

The BLACK PEARL is a Black CVA Optima Pro, shooting 2-50 grain Pyrodex Pellets with a 350 grain FPB bullet looking through a Nikon Prostaff 3x9 scope. He said it was actually brighter looking through the scope than it was just clear sight.

I hear ya about the Christmas gift Cayugad.......
