Default Hornady SST ?

I just bought a box of Hornady SST 250 grain 50 caliber for my Pro Hunter and I have not had a chance to try them yet. Can someone tell me what kind of results they have gotten with them on the practice range and on deer? And how many grains of powder are you using with these?

The Hornady SST's are the same thing as the T/C Shockwaves. So if the SST's load tight, change over to a Harvester Crushed Rib .452 sabot (black) and it will then load them easier. Try them with 100 grains of powder for starters. If shooting pellets, then 100 or 150 grain. If shooting loose, then 100-120 grains of loose. Swab between shots.

These are very accurate and tend to work real good in the field. Although there has been some reports that at close range these tend to punch a hole only, so make sure you put them in the right spot at close range in case they do not get a chance to expand.

Hereare a couple ofa post of the hog I killed this weekend with the same bullet and a range report with the load I used. I really like it so far. I've killed a deer and the wild hog you see in the post with this bullet. I think you'll like it. Oh yea, I'm also using the new Endeavor which is basically the same gun as the prohunter so you should get similar results witht the same load. But you will have to try to see for sure.

Here is the hog.

I shot some 250 Gr SST's out my Omega this past weekend and grouped them 1 1/2 - 2 inch open sights at 50 yards using 110gr T7 2F. I impressed myself. For me shooting open sights, that is awesome. With a scope I think that would have closed up a lot. I recommend trying 110gr if your shooting T7, it works in my Omega.
