Default Another a bit off topic for your info

Got a call from the taxidermist about my buck I got last Saturday with the bow. He scored 113 2/8". Not too bad for a public land buck.

Nice buck by any means. He is looks to be a 4-1/2 yr old buck based on his facial features and that nice rack. How close was the shot?

With any kind of weapon that is a great buck. I just never seem to have luck when hunting, seeing a big buck. One time, and I mean one time I saw a monster.. and all I could see was his head as he walked away from me. I thought of putting that .54 caliber roundball in the back of his head and all I could think about was blowing his horns off.. So I whistled to see if he would stop and turn and it was likea starters pistol had been set off at a track meet. He was gone.

Thanks guys - shot was just a tad over 20 yds. But this area is so thick where my friend and I hunt that is about as far as we can get off a clear shot - maybe up to 50 yds with a rifle or muzzie. Fortunately he stopped with his vitals in about a 12" window to shoot through. I really never knew how big he was until I was standing over him. All I knew is that he was a legal buck (3 pts on one side).
Dave I know exactly what you mean - I saw a nice buck last year about 1 mile away from where I got this one. I never got a crack at him and later on, closer to the rut, I had a decent buck (6 pointer) about 40 yds out and I grunted at him. Well, he either thought I was that bigger buck or just got his butt kicked because he didn't even look, but took off running like a scalded dog.
