Default TC sidelocks

I had my WMC w/21 GMB apart the other day. Got to thinking. If a gmb fit the wmc, would aa15/16 hawken bbl fit it. Well, lo and behold, it dropped right in the wmc stock. Fit perfect, bbl wedge fit good, hammer matched up. the "new" rifle actually felt and balanced better than the "hawken" stock. Question is whether tis is viable alternative to use. Anyone ever try this? the wmc trigger,"single" as opposed to the set trigger of the hawken, is pretty good. what ya'all think? any info or opinions welcome. Thanks Will

I see no reason why that would not work. Lots of people like a single trigger for hunting. Take it to the range and see what happens.

Mike; The White Mountain Carbine, they came w/a conical twist, faster than 1/48 but slower than 1/28. Mine i put a 21"gmb fast twist on that was on sale, thanks to cayugad. The hawken is a .45 I picked up this summer, used but in excellent shape. It shoots 240gr maxis w/70 gr 3f goex better than I can see at 50yds. I just ordered an RMC V-peep for it yesterday. We shall see!!

That's ok sabot we all get those brain cramps once in a while. Thumpber I hope it works good for you. I tried, but I just can't get used to those single triggers. I love my double set triggers.
However, that being said - and speaking of brain cramps - a couple months ago I was at the range and loaded up my Hawken caplock, set it on the sandbags, put on a cap, and nestled into the stock. I cocked the hammer, started aiming in the general direction of the target and pulled the set trigger. Or at least I thought it was the set trigger. KABOOM (I pulled the front trigger instead) oh well, no harm, no foul. But did I feel like an idiot.

I'll tell you a story about set triggers w/a hawken. Long time ago bout 15yrs, maybe more. 2nd wk of deer season here in mi. Sat morn, bout 15dg nice buck came out, bout 75yds. Set the trigger on my hawken .50, 260 knight sabot, leadhp. Squized of,"early", Wool gloves, Stood him up as far as he could stretch, flopped him over backwards!! There he was, flopping around, he worked his way to the fence row. There I was trying to get another load down the bbl. when I finally got loaded he was stumbling away, couldn't catch up w/him. Heard 3 shot6s,neighbor filled him full of slugs and had his tag on him when I got there. That was the end of that relationship!! Fill in the rest. More lead, whack'em hard! Took me 10yrs!, payback is a b@#%&h!!
