Default Range Report Omege+NikonBDC+Hornady SST

I went out last week ended up shooting for three hours with my 7wsm and my Omega.

Here is the lowdown: With 150gr 777 pellets 250gr Hornady SST in my Omega topped with the Nikon Omega 250 BDC I shot very nice 2" groups at 100yds. For time and $ sake I just went out to 250yds to test the BDC objective on the scope. My three shot group at 250ydsmeasured 5" BUT was 13 inches high!

By this point I was bleeding from my eyebrow (eye relief with the Talley onepiece mounts and the Nikon are very poor) and had used up my shoulder and my ammo supply. I feel confident about taking a deer out to that range, but will not go by the BDC reticle until I can get more range time in.

Anyone else experience this?

I don't like getting hit by scopes. My Z5 Omega has hit me twice. Actually the little plastic red release button on the Butler Creek scope covers hit the bridge of my nose.

The problem isn't the scope - it has adaquate eye relief. The problem is the cheap mushy recoil pad. Upgrade to the Sims limbsaver and your problem will be solved.

OUCH[:@] But doesn't the Nikon Omega have 5 inches of eye relief? Maybe how you are holding it is contributing...

I topped my Omega with a Simmons shotgun scope and I've had no eye relief problems with it. I have noticed that the mounts for the Omega seem to sit a little further back than what I see on most rifles though.

I like lots of eye relief on my scopes as well. Nothing I hate more then the kiss of a scope. And I have a scare between my eyes to prove it...
