Default New Scope.....

Decided it was time for new glass for my smoke pole. I put a new Nikon Prostaff 3x9 on top of my CVA Optima Pro. I am anxious to get home and try it out.

Anyone else have a Nikon Prostaff? How do you like it?

I like the Nikon Pro Staff.. they are reasonable in price, excellent clarity, good eye relief, and tuff. I use the 2-7x32mm because of the additional eye relief and the 2x is perfect in the thickets...

Well this scope dialed right in. I had it bore sighted at the gun shop, took it home and started firing at 25 yards, adjusting with each shot to get to dead center. On the 4th shot at 25 yards, I blew the bullseye out. I then moved it back to 55-65 yards and started to dial it in more. The FPB's piled right onto that target. I did notice that I will need to swob/clean after 2-3 shots. Once the sabot don't slide down easy, then it's time to clean and they will stack up again nicely.

On the last shot I moved a targetof a deers vitalsout to 65 yards or so....and smacked him square in the heart......only wish I had a shooting bench/vise. LOL This weekends project is to see how it performs at 100 - 150 yards.

Expensive to shoot, but I guess I ain't seen nothin yet until the "Obama Ammo Tax" kicks in.

If you have no shooting bench, make yourself a set of shooting sticks. I'm serious, with a good chair and some practice, you can really put them down range accurate. I shoot a lot of sticks this time of year.

Maybe you want to start swabbing between each shot. It might make a big difference. BUT it does sound like you have great glass now and a good shooting rifle to boot..
