Default Its all Cayugad's fault (again)

Well thanks to Dave posting those itty bitty groups from his Genesis - I was at Cabela's this morning getting some minor supplies and wouldn't you know it - they had them on sale for $134.99 with a $35.00 mail in rebate. Come on now for $100, how can even a traditional shooter like me pass that up? Darn you Dave.............[:@]

Cayugad didn't start the infection, but he sure is spreading it. What `ya gonna buy with $100- a new gun or 30 oz. of Blackhorn? Or, do like Dave and buy both.

Can I claim insanity? Guess not, we already got one of them on the forum. Well half a one anyway.Actually I did not start this Genesis stuff. Underclocked started all this. So you can blame him.

That's a great rifle. I really like mine. I hope you picked up some .44 caliber 300 grain XTP's and some green harvester crushed rib sabots. I was going to shoot today, but the wind was bringing down widow makers in the woods.

Dave - I already have them - that's what I use in one of my caplocks. I'm going to look at you other post and see what the charge is you were using.
One thing I noticed about it as I was giving it its initial cleaning prior to shooting it is that it looks likeit can easily be given the old hot soap and water cleaning even with a scope on it. Of course you would have to put the muzzle in the water instead of the breach end.
It looks like a simple, reliable and safe system. I guess I'm gonna have to go and shoot the crap out of it on Sunday.

When I clean it, I take the barrel off the stock and remove the breech plug. I then pour water over the threads of the breech through the barrel. Then when I have it good and wet in the threads, take a breech brush put some dish soap on it, and scrub the threads. Then pour more water through it to rinse the soap out. I never take the scope off the barrel.

After that I run some patches with simple green from the breech to the muzzle. About three of them and then it is dry patch time. A couple of them to dry the barrel and when you look through that barrel it just shines.. Then a oil patch, wipe the outside off, and put it all back together.

Be careful when you reassemble the rifle. This is where you will get into some problems if you're not careful. I had a different Genesis owner tell me their rifle would not fire. I guessed they had put the firing pin in wrong, or they did not have the barrel properly seated in the frame channel.. They later told me it fixed the problem (but never told me which one fixed it). So just pay special attention when you put the gun back together..

That sounds like a good way to clean her up. Another thing I like about it is that you don't need a bucket of tools to take it down.
As far as the tools go, I'm going to look for an extra hex (allen) wrench and a 3/8" drive socket the right size of the BP and see if I can get my buddy to weld the socket onto the middle of the hex wrench. Then I can have a tool to disassemble the entire rifle in the field if I have to.

I bought a cheap ratchet screw driver setthat has 5/32 hex head for the bolts and a 7/16th socket that will take that breech plug out. I can break the rifle down real fast with it.

This is the set I bought for working on my rifles. I have my thread compound in there, and I bought an expensive head for putting scopes on (so they do not hurt the screws). But I can fix about any aspect of the rifles with this cheap set. And with the ratchet driver, it makes it easier for me to just move things around.. Plus the small screw drivers (for eye glasses) work perfect for open sights and them tiny little screws they have..

$100 for that gun?

Now thats a steal.
What a great way to get people in the sport who are concerned about high cost.
May have to save up for one
