Default Remington Genesis Scoped..

Scope are only allowed in Wisconsin if they have no magnification. So it was my intent to scope the Remington Genesis with a Nikon 1x20mm but I got a deal on a T/C Hawkins 1x32mm scope so we went that route and saved a few bucks.

I bought high mounts from Traditions because of the cam on the rifle and the shape of the stock. Also the person I spoke with at Traditions suggested to go that way as it was more comfortable to shoot from reports. So I took them at their word and they were right. It pulls perfect and really is a pleasure to shoot. I bore sighted the rifle at 13 yards in the house using my gun rest and a door knob. And took it out to the range to day to see how close I was in my bore sighting..

I was shooting a 300 grain Hornady .44 caliber XTP in a green Harvester Crushed Rib sabot with 100 grains of Pyrodex RS. I thought that looked close enough considering I made no adjustment. Sometimes you just get lucky.

So I ran it back to 25 yards. At this distance according to ballistics charts it should shoot a little over an inch high..

I would say that was where it should be. To double check I aimed a little low and shot two for effect..

I then ran it out to 50 yards. Again, according to the ballistics it should be about two inches high..

It was shooting just a little higher then that but the group was real impressive. I like a scope over iron sights because of my eye sight, and then I do not have to monkey around and wonder if I have the sights all put in the right place. Especially when shooting the fiber optic sights which I do not care for. This looked good. So I then aimed at the bottom of the eight ring and figured that should put a few in to the bulls eye where the 13 yard shots hit. I was right.

If the ballistics continue to hold true, the rifle should be dead on at 100 yards. I will have to test that after I do some yard work.. Besides, 50 yards is a long shot where I live...

This is one of the easiest sight ins I have have in a long time. Also cleaning this rifle is a snap. A ratchet screw driver with a socket set and you can take the gun completely apart, breech plug out, scrub it up and have it back together in no time. Its a nice shooting rifle. I think I will hunt with it a day or two this year..

Nice bore sighting job cayugad! Mine are never that close. I agree, the Genesis is the easiest inline I've ever cleaned. It makes shooting it much more enjoyable.

The Genesis is really easy. So easy in fact I did not put quick release rings on this one. Since it breaks down to parts, I can still clean it real easy.

Yeah I don't have QR rings on mine either. I should have taken advantage of Cabela's sale when they had the laminate ones on sale for $300[:@] Once I get the laminate one I MIGHT give the blue/black one to my brother-in-law.

Dave - Looks good and shoots great. Congrats. That bullet/powder combo seems to work well in a lot of 50 cals. Shooting like that makes me second guess getting an inline.
One question - I've read about the cams getting 'sticky' during range sessions. Did you feel that occuring?

Saxman.. in Wisconsin for muzzleloader season, we are allowed NO MAGNIFICATION. We can put RED DOTs on them or 1X scopes but no magnification. If we could I would throw a 2-7x32mm on the rifle. I almost mounted a Sightron S-1 3-9x40mm on it today, but decided that since I was mounting a fixed mount, I needed to set this up for muzzleloader season. I got the scope from a member in like new condition for a very reasonable price. This is the third T/C Hawkins 1X32mm I have and they are a very good scope.

I have not noticed that. I do wipe the cam with alcohol about every fifth shot whether it needs it or not. Also I check the breech plug every ten shots. So far, all had been well.
