cva optima pro 45cal
I have shot 175gr powerbelts, 185gr shockwaves, and 225gr powerbelts using 80gr, 90gr, 100gr, 110gr, 130gr, and 150gr of t7 and at 25yds my groups are about the same size as a baseball. What is the problem? I cleaned the barrel between shots. The best group i got was w/225 and 80 gr. At 50 yds the first shot was about 1.5in high and the second was almost off the paper so I put the gun up before I destroyed it with anger management problems. Please help.

try 223, 270 and 300 platinum powerbelts and 275 or 270(?)and 300 copper PB and drop your starting charge to 70grs of t7 top off at an max of 80grs.
try mmp or crushed rib sabots. with the shockwaves.
edit: check your scope bases and rings (if open sights check them).

Assuming all is as it should be with your sights or scope and mounts, try bullets other than shockwaves and powerbelts. You say you are cleaning between shots, but are you making sure that all moisture or oil is removed prior to reloading?
You can verify that your issues are not shooter-related by shooting another gun that you know shoots well. Helps eliminate a variable anyway.
There are guns out there that just won't shoot. Maybe you have one. The odds are against that though, so I'll bet there is a load it will shoot well.
With MLs, consistency in swabbing/charges/bullets/sabots/loading/shooting technique is key.

I spent a small fortune in different projectile and propellant testing for my CVA .45 Optima without getting anything resembling useable accuracy before I shelved it and went back to my sidelocks.
I used Pyrodex (loose and pellets), 777 and around half-a-dozen different projectiles. No good.
I've worked up loads for three rather finicky sidelocks in .45, so I'm not unfamiliar with experimenting/being patient... this Optima just won't shoot for me.

150gr pellets is way over loaded for the powerbelt and could easily be the problem with the accuracy. Buy some loose Pyodex RS or P and try the 225 or the 275 Powerbelt and like corey said, start out with 70-75 and max is out at 80gr.

I am not really to familiar with CVA 45 cals... but for awhile there was a problem with the twist rate in the bore for a lot of 45's... What is your rate of twist - compare that rate with other manufactures building 45's now.
Just a thought...

The problem with the fast twist .45 rifles was they were being hyped too much with too light bullets - and some of the barrels weren't worth spit. A GOOD 1:20 twist .45 will shoot lights out with heavy conicals or heavy sabot'd rounds.

That is what i was thinking but I think in later runs most went to a different twist rate - I am not sure as I can not use a 45 in Idaho without using a full bore conical so I have never looked into a 45...
I just remember a lot of discussions about inaccurate 45 cal ML's - but nothing specific.
I see that Knight uses a 1/30 twist and I thought someone was using a 1/20....
Just checked the GM site - their 45 cal LRH barrels are also 1/28 so it is probably the correct twist rate... maybe it was the other twists that was causing the problems...

ok guys and gals if applicable the verdict is in and it was the scope was bad. I swapped scopes last nite and shot today and the gun is stacking the shots at 25yds and yesterday it wouldn't group insied of a coffee can.
