Default Who has a home remedy (mix) for swabbing T7?

I would love to find something that works and is cheaper than T13 or T17. I always dry the barrel VERY well after cleaning and before applying the bore butter. Thanks in advance!

50/50 Alcohol and Windex or straight 91% alcohol
Or look up Cyugas Moose Milk
That works good too.
I made up a quart of it

Buck Hunter - does that mean the wondex/alcohol mix was causing the flash hole to get crusty? If so, have you found anything that would prevent it?

With Blackhorn any swabbing is suppose to be done with a solvent. When I did swab BlackHorn I used windex and those patches came out BLACK!!

A real good home made mix for cleaning is often called MAP. It is a mix of Murphy's Oil Soap, Alcohol, and Hydrogen Peroxide.. The problem with it is there is a chance of flash rust. When I make it I use 10% Murphy's oil soap, then 40% alcohol, and 40% hydrogen peroxide. The last 10% I add water. It makes a good cleaner but again, it can cause flash rust.

For a simple cleaning solution try just water with a little dish soap. It will not remove plastic, copper, or lead deposits but it will pull most fowling out of the barrel just fine. I mix a little of that and have it in a old Dawn Dish Soap bottle. It works just fine. Or you can use a 50/50 mix of alcohol and car windsheld washer fluid. Some cheap ways is get a bottle of 409 cleaner, Simple Green, or some of the other commercial cleaners. All of them will remove fowling.

The easiest and the cheapest is plain old fashioned windex with ammonia.... it copletly neutralizes T7 residue and the ammonia cleans and dry rapidly.... Have used in all of my ML for a long time now...

Here is how I make my patches... + they are an excellent way to bigin yur clean up after shooting... takes about 3 or4 patches to get back to a clean patch....

Maybe I am saying that incorrectly... the blue windex comes with ammonia already mixed in...

At the range I will use the same patch for 7 or 8 shots or until it drys out... the stuff is fantastic with T7.

Also remember I am one of those guys that shoots a "semi-fouled" barrel all the time. I use the windex patch to swab out the barrel every time I shoot and never clean the rifle till the end of the season... that's how much confidence I have in the ability of windex to handle T7 residue.. but I go against another rule too because I do also very -very lightlyoil the barrel to prevent rust on raw metal even while hunting...

Well guys, all I can say is try the straight 91% alcohol in a squirt bottle once. I think you will be a convert.

As for cheap, it's something like a buck for a 16 oz. bottle. I didn't experience anything like flash rust in a total of four days of shooting in three different guns. But, I did run an oil patch down the bore when I was finished shooting to hold the uglies at bay until the full next-day clean up.
