I killed the first deer with my new Knight Black Shadow this past weekend - a doe that weighed in around 130 pounds. I used a sierra pro hunter 300 grain fn hp along with a black harvester crushed rib saobot in front of 100 grains of pyrodex pellets. The deer was only about 15 yards and the bullet punched right though but didn't expand very much; however, it did the job. I just got the orange mmp sabots in and will be switching over to them and save the black sabots for some 300 grain xtp's later on. I intended on bringing the camera with me to post pictures of the bullet performance, but walked right by it on the way out the door. Off hand, does anybody know if switching from the black sabots to the orange sabots would require me to resight the rifle? I will shoot it again to make sure it is still zeroed before shooting at an animal with it, but was curious if anyone had experience with such.

#1 Congrats on your deer. In my experience anytime you make a load change regardless if it's a muzzleloader, shotgun, or a centerfire rifle you should always recheck it. Some small changes could have big effects. If your shooting good now I wouldn't change the sabots as long as you have tags left.

Congratulations on the deer. How do you like that Knight Shadow? Not a lot of posts about that rifle. It sure is a pretty rifle to look at though.
If you change any part of the set up, you better test the accuracy with the rifle. They will change and you need to know, not find out the hard way in the field..
Good luck.

Agree with SJSfire, once your "set to go into the season" stick with what works unless you have two or 3 guns as backup. Nothing worse than to resight in, and not be grouping, but that has happen to several folks. I have two bullets and loads that work at the same scope settings, so I know what works for me, but that is with some work this spring and summer. Chap
