Default savage m10-ii how to measure powder

How do you measure the smokeless powder for this gun?

I will be shooting IMR 4759, but have no real idea on how to measure it, I know you don't measure it the same as regular black powder though.

Thanks.

Some use powder dippers. Others use scales and place the charge in tubes/canisters(like 35mm film came in)of one sort or another for quick use.

Just because of the animal you're dealing with I would weigh it out on scales. Now granted a dipper would get you close to where you want to be, but the true weight is a very important thing. Smokeless powdersin just small amounts produce differentpressures and can change from accurate to dangerous. Maybe that is why I have never made that final step to a smokeless. Although I have to admit the Savage ML10-II is a beautiful and from all I have read, a very accurate efficient hunting weapon.

sngeh,
Smokeless powder [4759] must be weighed with a powder scale. 42-45gn is a Savage recommended book load with 250-300gn bullets. Some have used the Lee dippers when using 5744. If new to smokeless shooting I would recommend that you get on the smokeless board and get your info. The guys on there are more than willing to help you out.

You must use scales, not measure for BP. I bought the Lee dippers, but don't wastes your time or money, but a good scale. I bought a Lee Scale, then an electronic scale. The electronic is better. I think the electonic was only $25 or $40, can't remember. Please shoot book loads first, don't get into performance shooting theSavageuntil you make sure yourgun will shoot 300g XTP with one of the book powders.
