Default Michigan bucks are starting to shed velvet.

I took this picture Thursday evening. Note the point on the right side, how it is really pointed and a bit red. I thought it had gotten damaged some how.

Last evening We got home from having a picnic with the daughterand grand children. I was getting ready to go run my dogs when deer started out of the bushes to graze in the lawn. I watched a 4 point come from the rear of the property and join the 4 does and 2 fawns. Then I noticed our Nine bark shurb just shaking. Thissame big buck was just giving it a thrashing.

They are also sheding their summer hair.

WOW!! all the other signs point to an early winter too.. the ferns have started toturn and the spiders are building their winter webshigh in the trees. That's a sign of deep snow (old wise tale). I have not spotted a buck on the property yet. I set out some apples close to the house so I could watch deer and see what they are doing, but the apples are still out there. Although the neighbor said a large wolf pack is in the area, so that would explain the deer not being here.

Just looked at last nights video and all the velvet is gone from the right side antler (looking at him). Theleft side (looking at him)side is mostly there in strings hooked at the tip and the base. Tbhat should be gone today.
Also the one in the video isn't the same one in the above picture. The video one is a longer tined 7 point.
