Default Bonded Shockwave photos

I see its some debate about these and how well they actaully do on deer up close. I have mixed results but granted I have never lost a deer I've shot. I shoot the 250 grain bonded superglides which are the most accurate loads I haveshot. These were 2 I recovered from 2 mature 3.5 year old bucks a few years ago. The one on theleft was 27 yards and dropped in his tracks. Decent petaling out, but still one petal choose not to expand. Whether it was shot angle I'm not sure. The shot was from a 15ft stand if that matters. The one on the right was from that same stand but only15 yards away. No petaling effect which is why I now have switched to unbonded(yellow tip) loads now. This deer only went 25 yards and dropped, but still the sabot did not exit and really didnt petal any. Do these sabots work well? Yes. I just think the added stength causes them to hold together to much on whitetails and isnt needed.

Both sabots were shot from a Knight Revolution with 100grains of T7

you should try the 250gr barnes expander. Those expand nicely!

My omega doesnt shoot them very well, 4" @ 100 and they load super tight so you'll have to mess around with sabots more than likely.

I am one of those that is not a fan of the Bonded SW/SST's for use on deer... for use on elk with the much thicker tey could work just great but even then I would go to 300 grains.

I do like the thought of a bonded bullet or better, even on deer that is why were I shooting deer with a regualr bullet i would use the .452/250 grain Speer Gold Dot or even the .429/270gr Gold Dot with the the old 30-30 soft point. Both of these bullets insure expansion from 10 yards to 176 yards, in my case, and I am shoot 110 grains of T7-2f.

I really do prefer the thought of one bullet working well from point blank range to 175 for deer. I normally shoot a Nosler .451/260 grain Partition, but from my tests and other peoples testimonies the Gold Dots work and do not come apart @ close ranges if you make a shoulder bone shot.

Here are some pics of my tortue test of these Gold Dot bullets...

This is what perfect expansion id suppose to look like - right down to the copper dot in the middle - in real life of course it is not this pretty but the dot does show up even then

I know you guys are excited about the new 40/50 crush rib... sure hope it works for you... I just do not have a gun with that tight of a bore - so the regular MMP's work great for me.... Although that might load that .410/210 grain Gold Dot that Semi talks about into my 50's - might have try that... except here in Idaho I could not hunt with it legally in a ML...

Yep....The Barnes Expander MZ's is all I use to hunt with. They are a little tight so I use the black Crushed Rib sabots. Use them and your troubles will be over (that is if your gun likes them)

I love the performance of the Barnes. But I get pretty near the same results with Gold Dots at a much lower price. But I won't shoot anything but Barnes Triple Shocks in my 25-06.

i shot 6 300gr magnum XTP's and am at a 50/50 like-dislike with them. 3 help up, 3 had the lead fall out of the jacket.

Plan on shooting the 275gr Parker Hydra cons with 100gr Pyro P @ 100 and see how those do. I know the 250's shot like a bat out of hell!

Also have some .452 250gr XTP's.
