Default rebore a pitted .54 Renegade to 20ga

I know GM used to sell a 1" barrel in 20ga for the Renegade.I have 3 barrels for mine a conical 1-48 ,a GM 1-70 and the original pitted pipe .I'd like to have it rebored to 20ga and have a jug choke put in.Anyone ever done one or know where it can be done? It's useless as is............Harold

I imagine it could be done. There is plenty of metal there to do it. The question is would it be cost effective? You could probably pick up a 20 ga barrel to drop in your stock for less than the cost of boring it out.

foxridge sells the 12g shotgun barrel for around 145-175. A heck of a lot cheaper than having someone rebore your current barrel.

I have he same situation. I have a 50 cal barrel from anInvestarms Hawkins that was given to me free. It is pitted badly and doesn't shoot very well. I thought of having the bore cut out to a .54 cal but don't know if theprice will be greater then a new barrel.

Does anyone outthere know whatit would cost toget this done????

Never had it done, and honestly would not know who to ask. Perhaps some of these barrel companies or a machine shop might be able to do that... I have a 20 gauge for my Renegade that I bought.

If I could just buy a barrel I would.GM discontinued thier .62/20ga smoothbore and I'm not aware of a 12 ga barrel drop in for the Renegade.I saw another fellow with the GM barrel that sent it to Lowell Tennyson in Blue Grass IA to be jug choked. And he was wacking turkeys at 40 yards with full choke patterns for around $75 The closest bore for the .54 would be a 28ga at .55" diabut I'd rather a 20ga.20ga bore is .617 and a5/8 drill is .6250 and a 15.5mm bit is .6102 then add a jug choke..........................hate to strip it and toss the barrel but chances are you'd never get the plug out.Harold *another option would be if you want a rifle is remove the old riflingand insert a liner

Seems any good gun smith could do it if he has the right equiptment....I think it would
have to be bored out and i'm not talking with a drill bit..They would likely have to use
a boreing bar...And you would probably be the one buying it as he would have no use
for it again..I know when I had a 38-55 bored out I foot the bill for borer and liner...
I would look around for another barrel if possible....Just my 2 cents worth..
