Default No sabot conicals ?

I have shot some buck or maybe it was deer slayers a 300gr hollow base kneraled semi conical 50 cal bullet . It perfomed decent at the range although I've not usedit in the field.

Are there others out there like it or is it a 1 of a kind ? I like the lubed bullet "self sealing" base full shoulder contact bullet shape and a dead soft 50 cal only needs to on its mark to be leathal ....Right?

Powerbelt is pretty much i shoot. Zero lube.

Hornady FPB is a new bullet but for me i was not impressed with loading nor with the way they shot and the recovered bullets.

Deerslayer is a good bullet In my opinion.

Hornady great plains is good but i am not very happy with how they perform on deer in the field.

There are lots of different conicals out there. All you can do is try the different ones out there. I wonder have you tried Buffalo Bullet ball-ets?

Take a look at the FPB conical Hornady just came out with them this years the tests we have done on them so far have shown excellant results, they work well for expansion and penatration and most guns are very accurate with them. An other option is the Sabor Tooth which I use for several years with excellant results. None of them are as good as a sabot for long range in my opinion but there are places where you can not use sabots. Lee

Thanks for the suggestions guess it would have helped to know I'm shooting a TC Hawkens cap lock . I'm such a dinosaur don't know what I'd do with 1 of those hot rod rifles with that fast 1-24 twist . I think the Hawken is 1-28 maybe less been shooting PBs and little else .

What about lube ? I've begun casting 308,32,357,45 and am trying several presently Barry Darr's parrafin vasoline and STP (I had it allin the shop and time) as suggested by Hoch moulds .

Its pretty hard on me to shop around when I run out of net outlets I may as well be in AK with those bullets . it's an hour and a half to wal mart oh wait to buy a license or a can of powder ... We have 6 bars and a dozen churches and 50 miles of empty beach.

tc hawken is 1:48,that twist is the one that is good for round balls and conicals. Had a tc hawken a while back that shot really well with 80gr select and a 295gr powerbelt. Only shot a few round balls out of it.
