Default New to inlines, (primer question)

How much does the primer effect how a gun shoots? For example, If Ishoot a 2" group at 100 yards and I used CCI 209 primers. Would that group change if I switched to a Winchester brand 209 primer?

Theres a great possibility that the new primer could shrink your group or open the group up.

The only way to tell is to try them. Normally the change is not drastic, but I have seen as much as an inch difference. Just give it a try.

You never know until you try. I would have to agree with Dave in that the change may not be too drastic. Now changing from a standard primer may result in more change.

You need to match the primers to the powder in some cases. For instance win 209 or CCI 209 for regular reloading with work fine with Black Horn, with 777 I had the best results with the same 209's in my Triumph but a lot of people have better results with the primers made for muzzle loading [Win 777 and Rem ] Cheddite are very good if you can get them. With Pyrodex I always had best results withMusket caps. Lee
