Default What Model TC Is This? (UPDATED for CAYUGAD)

A guy on a local forum has this TC up for sale for $75. I asked him in an e-mail what model it is, and he replied "thompson center arms .50 cal muzzle loader". Anybody know the model?

Depending on the age of it, it could be all of them that LEE said. All of them are good shooters for the most part. Because of what looks like the longer barrel though, I will guess it is a Black Diamond XR. Most of the older named ones had a 22 or 24 inch barrel that hardly extended much past the forearm. The Black Diamond XR on the other hand has a 28 inch barrel and that looks about as long as my black diamond xr.

Well, I was checking for TC sidelocks when I came across this one. I'm not a fan of camo stocks, or that style of in-line. But for $75 I guess I should pick it up if the bore is good. The guy is only about eight miles away, so its no big deal to check it out. Looks like its missing the ramrod. Probably a 1 in 28"???

HeyCayugad, you eagle eyed pro, you hit it dead center. I sent the guy another e-mail and he says its a Black Diamond XR. What's the twist on those barrels?

EDIT: Never mind, I did a search an found your post on the BDXR, http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=2869014&mpage=1&key=Black%2cDiam ond and see its a 1:28. Those are some great groups out of your gun with a variety of bullets. You said:

That Black Diamond XR is a very consistantly accurate rifle but of all my rifles, has to be the very worst rifle to clean. Maybe that is why I do not shoot it more...
Now, that's a little worrisome.

The Black Diamond XR will fowl your breech and bottom of your scope something terrible. So I make a scope bikini out of duct tape and solve the problem. Other then that it is no different to clean then any other open breech rifle. Also mine shoots conicals very well with its 1-28 twist.

If you're not mounting a scope on it, then it is no harder to clean then any other rifle. And it does shoot Black Horn 209...
