Any recomendations for a good scope base. I just bought a scope kit from TC and cant figure out how these bases are suppose to sit. Theres 2 pieces to it. Its called Gorilla rings/base. Anyone use them? I know this sounds stupid but am I suppose to remove the rear sight? Never had trouble mounting a scope before. I also cant find the scope kit listed on there site anywhere. It was only 45$ I figured id use the scope one season then throw it on a .22. I know you get what u pay for. I havent muzzleloadered much so any information is appreciated. Oh btw its a 209x50 encore.
From the T/C catalog page 74:
No.7429 MAXIMA™ BASE, ENCORE & OMEGA, 1 PC. MATTE BLUED
No.9911 MAXIMA™ BASE, ENCORE & OMEGA, 1 PC. HARDWOODS CAMO
I got mine at WalMart. T/C catalog pdf file, about 85MB.

The only one I know of that had one of those and gave account of its performance was Big6x6, admin over at Modern Muzzleloader. He seemed to like it a lot on his Omega X7. You might venture over there and ask him about his thoughts on the sight/base.
I have an Encore.Go with the above advise and get the WARNE base and rings.I had trouble with my set up until I got the Warne's and now I use Warne rings and bases on all my guns.I have had Weaver and Leupold but all I use now is the Warne's.
IMO the Warne system is the best. The base is a longer base so you have more adjustment. It is a good piece of steel, not aluminum. The rings are good and solid. Below is a side by side picturewith the Leupold base. You can clearly see that the Warne is longer, and has more options. Tom.
