Took The Staghorn Out Today
Put an illuminated reticlescope on my cheap old Staghorn.The scope isa Cabela's and it has four reticles: Crosshairs,a circle with a dot in the center, a 3 minute dot and a bigger dot. Cabela's quit selling this scope because the call out for the elevation is backwards. Up is down and vice versa.
Pre-zeroed the scope in the house with the laser bore sighter. Have a few hundred 240 grain .430 SWC bullets and decided to try them out. First shot at 25 yards was on the 3" bullseye. Moved the target to 50 yards and the gun shot about 5" high. Got it hitting the center of the bull with a bottom of the bull sight picture and called it quits. Close enough for me.
Will try the lead 240 grain SWC on some hogs. There is a good sized hog that i've named Osama bin Laden.Osama, i'm after you!!!!
Powder: 100 grains of FFG Pinnacle
Bullet: Lead 240 grain Semi-wadcutter
Primer: Winchester 209 Shotgun
Sabot: Short Green
