Default TC Renegade .50 Question

Just wondering what you guys are shooting in your Renegades. 410 Great Plains wouldn't shoot well, so I might now try the 385 GP's. What charge are you guys shooting? I have both 777 and Pyrodex.

Thanks,
Brett __________[/align]

I have had great luck with the T/C Maxiball, 370 gr. I didn't do so well with the Maxi-hunter. I generally shot 90 or 100 gr Pyrodex, and we could shoot clay pigeons offhand at 75 yds. Of course, they were stationary at the time.

When i had a renegade that sucker loved the 295g powerbelt over 80g pyrodex RS. 1" groups were easily done all day in that rifle.

I am shooting 75gr of 2fg 777 and a 445gr .504 U C Short from bull shop with a over powder wad

I also shoot a 385gr Hornady G P with same powder charge but no wad !

also I shoot a 350gr TC Mai hunter with a wad .

But I can tell you that the 385gr HGP & the 350gr MH although they shoot good they don't come close to the 445gr BullShop.

I also shoot BullShops from mine but I shoot the 460 grain MTNex with 80 grains of T7-3f. I do also place a .125x.510 shot card between the conical and the powder to insulate the bottom of the conical.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll give the 385's a go w/ 777 and if that doesn't do the trick I'll pick up some round balls.

Thanks again,

Brett

PRB with 80 grains of Goex FFg with a wonder wad. Same load worked well with Maxi-hunters. The wonder wad was really what made a difference for me with accuracy with both PRB and the maxi-hunter. Before the wonderwad my groups were huge and inconsistent, afterwards they shrunk to one to two inches at 50 yards and were consistent. Good enough for me and the deer that I shoot.

Experiment with powder type, powder amount, and projectiles. Try different variables (with and without a wad) and document so you know what works in your gun.

Good luck.

Cory

Mine, which has a 1 in 28 green mountain barrel, shoots 370 gr maxiballs well with 85 grains of 777.
