Default Gun shop find!

Went to a small gun shop yesterday with my nephew and i saw one of those modern black plastic pistols that looked cool, But wasn't that cool for $1200!

I started to turn and on the same hook i found this! I almost walked away until the brass caught my eye and then i saw the price and scooped it up and took it to the front counter and paid the bill.

Walked out with a .69cal Tower Flintlock Smoothbore Pistol!

I went and cleaned out the lock and cleaned the pistol. Looked at the frizzen, Not one strike on it! The guy at the gun store told me the original owner bought it a long time ago, put some kind of nasty grease smelling stuff on it to antique it and then hung in on the wall. By the looks of all the dust it had on it, I believe him.

Got a brand spankin new pistol for a good price and the brass aged nicely over the years.

Wow. That size caliber in a handgun seems hard to find. That would be fun, but what charges can you use in a handcannon?

Wow! .69 dude!
What are you goimg to shoot? RB? That's a big ball.
I know Lyman makes a .69 Minie mold, but that sucker is for a 730 gr bullet.
Lee makes a single cavity RB mold for the .69, only $24. Not bad.

Have you researched a load yet? Fill us in, this is one that interests me greatly.
I finally got my Kentucky .50 pistol tuned to where it's accurate one handed (duelist style) out to about 20 yds.

That tower pistol looks like alot of fun. Congrats!

My father-in-law I believe has that exact same pistol. If it isn't then I don't knowwhat the difference is. He got his as a kit. I think he only shot it a handful of times. I tried to get him to sell it to me but he won't. He shot a roundball out of it with 25grs of FF.

Hey frontier I answered your PM but I don't know if it went through because it said your box was full. If not let me know.

Hey Gander, is that a smooth bore? Might be a lot of fun with an ounce of #6 shot.
