More GPR fun.

Took the GPR back out again this morning. After 4 shots at 58 yards i was more than pleased with the groups. Right at 1" 4 shot group. Rifle was going off like cap lock and just loving the 80 grains FFg goex.

Moved out to 71 yards, first shot nailed the tiny 1" orange dot. Next shot was 1" below and the next shot barely missed the second shot by 1/4". This was with 90g FFg goex.

Next 4 shots i was playing with to see where my 110 ffg load would hit but i couldnt seem to get anything to group. It turns out, all of my shots were LOW and way off to the left of the box.

On my last shot i noticed the rifle tip downward and to the left.

I dry fired a couple times and it ended up that the side of the hammer was hitting up against the rubber rest and when the hammer would fall, it would move my rifle off to the side and cause the bad groups.

Next time out i will be putting down 110g's and a wheel weight PRB with .018 pillow ticking and see how she does again.

Of course i'll be a lot more careful and make sure the lock doesnt hit the rubber rest

Last night i also applied 5 coats of birchwood casey gun stock wax. Holy moly! I love that stuff! Added just the right amount of gloss to the stock and made her smooth. A dozen more coats and i'll call it good.

Time for lunch now and then swab the bore clean.

Back inFebruary I picked up one of these in a .54/flint. Still haven't had a chance to shoot it. From what I read on this board, it sounds like a fine rifle.

yes 4f. I am going to take a few shots again with the 110g load and then i'll load up a few more and try the 2f.

Next time i buy powder i will go with 3f so it ignites a little faster.

I've been using 3F in mine - for the load and the pan. Good ignition and good groups. Now that I have a full case of the stuff I guess that's about all I'll be using. Next time out I'll shoot it over the chronograph and post a report.

That load should be a fine elk load. Put that ball in the right spot and you should be in business.. I like that Birchwood Casey wax as well. It is all I use on my rifles.

Ok im done for the day. Its hotter than a SOB out there.

i tried some different patches, .018 pillow ticking did good but i had to swab between shots to get them down. Just took 2 shots and they hit ok.

Put up a new target as the old one was getting hard to see.

Shot a 5 shot group with 90g goex, .015 TC patch " these were thick! and had to swab between shots" The 5 shot group was awesome.

Next up i took 3 shots with my 110g hunting load and it shot very good, even primed with 2f. Very good hunting accuracy.

Next i tried some other tc patches that were yellow, The ones before were white and thick. The yellows were .015 but thin?
Shot 2 90g loads and these were horrible! Although they measured just a little over an inch, they were 5"-6"to the left and high.

Loaded 110g with the same patch, same thing but they were on the right side.

Im settled with those white .015 tc patches until i order some more Ox-Yoke. I ran out today

One heck of a shooting day thats for sure.
