A friends friend says he shoots 150gr charges in his ML and gets great groups but couldn't put a figure on a 100yd group.
As sort of a poll I would like to know how stiff a charge you shoot in what cal.
Mine are 50cal T/C Hawkins 70gr., 50calT/C plains hunter 85gr., Remington 700 50 cal 80gr, and Remington 700 54cal 100gr.
These aremy best loads for the best groups with sabots and 230 to 300 grain bullets, except the Hawkins is a PRB.

All shoot well between 90 and 110g of 777, heavy charges are for folks that have listen to the marketingpropaganda on speed and range not accuracy. I really don't think you get that much extra speed for the 150g charges, seems to me like it is only 200 fps extra, but boy do you loose in accuracy. Lotta folks don't shoot regularly and wanna just hunt 1 or 2 weeks and shoota 3" at 100 yard group, don't wannaplay with the rifle to get it dialed in perfectly for the bullet, sabot, powder and gun. Chap

50 cal Knight Rolling Block with a 250 gr. Barnes expander on top of 110 gr. loose 3f Triple seven. It also does well with 90 gr. of 2f Triple Seven and 410 gr. Great plains conicals.

powder charges vary between 70 grains all the way to 120 grains of in loose powder from. Also the grades of powder change between rifles and projectiles. They range in calibers from 45 to 62 caliber, not counting the 12 gauge shotguns of course.
Some people do shoot 150 grains and they get good accuracy. Whether your rifle is one of them or you like to shoot that much, or need to for that matter is all a personal preference. Also consider the fact that what some people call "accurate", others call "getting there"...

My "stout" rifle,TC Omega Z5, groups good and shoots flat with 130gr RS + 250gr T/C Shockwave, also been shooting 240gr T/C Cheap Shots at the same powder charge with good accuracy. I like 90gr RS and 385gr hornady GP in 50 cal hawken.
I got these results if Feb under 2" with my Omega 290TMZ with 150 T7FF, 100grains were more accurate though. Under 1" . The only to so far when accuracy didn"™t go bad with heavy charges is when I used 290-300 grain bullets.
I am not sure on how to post this but here is my post from Feb with heavy charges 2/17/2008 10:18:30 PM
