Default Tested a few different conicals today

I was out this morning testing some different conicals I had on hand out of my GM 29" LRH. And to try different charges.
Targets were set up at 50 yds, 63 degrees, overcast.
Upper left target: My very first shot I pulled while 'settling in' to the bags. After that I fired 3 shots of 90 gr Pyroxex RS, Wonder Wad, and the 275 gr Maxihunter swabbing between each shot. Not very impressive. Just to see if it was me, I dropped back down to my original 80 gr load of Pyrodex RS, wonder wad, and 275 gr Maxihunter. The group 1 /12" high at 12 o'clock is 3 shots - in almost one hole.
Upper right target: Same 80 gr load of Pyrodex RS with the 350 gr Maxihunter - totally sucked.
Bottom target: Again, 80 gr Pyrodex RS, wonder wad with 320 gr MaxiBall. This isn't too bad and deserves some more tinkering. But I only had 5 left so I have to get another box.
Its fun to play around but I don't think I am ever going to improve on the 275 gr Maxihunter load.

Good report Bronco. It's amazing how that extra ten grains of powder makes such a difference with the 275s.It's soooo nice when you find that sweetload that groups tight. Thenyou know what the gun is capable ofand have a base point for comparing other loads.

Have you tried REALs in that barrel yet? If you can get them shooting as well as the 275 Maxi group you will save a lot of $$$ on bullets.

Pretty good shooting out of that 21" barrel.

I never could push the maxi's any harder than 80 grains RS out of my X-150 i had. Shot excellent groups but i didnt care for the performance of the bullet. Theres a local shop that sells them for $6.99 per 20.

Going to try any great plains conicals?

Its always nice to shoot... anytime I can burn some powder is a good day. Good testing.

WOW Frontier, where you at? $6.99 is real cheap. I'm paying $8.99+tax for them.
Semi - I tried REAL out of this barrel. The 275 gr Maxihunters are the most accurate. I do want to try some more of 320 gr MaxiBalls with different powder charges to see if I can tighten them up.
That 1" orange dot on the 3" black circle was just big enough to give me a fine focus point to aim at. BTW - I measured that 3 shot group and C-C was 0.21". That's about .4 MOA - I wish my some of my centerfires would shoot that good.

Its just one of those small places where the firearms are marked up twice the value than what they are worth
