Default 54 Smoothbore Patterns

I just finished pattering my GM 32 in Smoothbore. I started with 7/8 oz 7 shot and 70 gr 3f graf's I used a 54 sabot and over card. I shot off hand at 25 yds pattern was very open with hole in center. I switched to 90 gr 3 F a flet lubed was than a 1/8 card wad than 10z of #5 shot than overcard wad. I shot five shots at 8x11 turkey head and neck target. I got between 7 and 10 shot in head and neck area. I had the target against an old 55 gallon drum which is now well ventiliated. The pattern was consistant and had good penetration. I now need to get it shooting RB.

Well it sounds like you have a good shooting load there... As for the roundball.. a patched ball should do. I do not get real good quality out of a smoothbore, but I kind of stopped playing with the one I have.

Well The best I have done is 3 to 4 inches at 25 yds did not expect the smooth bore to shoot RB real good

that is the very best I ever shot my smoothbore. Most of the time, I spray that paper at that distance. I think your averages are very accurate. Those that shoot great tight groups at much further distanceswith their smoothbores are doing something I am not, for sure.
