I got a couple of .45"™s to play last couple of month"™s . I thought about a light load for my daughter like 80 grains and a 195 powerbelt. Seems like the .45"™s like to go faster. I found some 150gr Knight Red Hots, loaded 135 FFF T7- ave 2413 fps. This would be better than a 30-30. Not a lot of recoil, should be good to 100yrd, seems like the copper bullet would hold up at these speeds. What do guys you think?

Why so hot to kill a deer at 100 yards? Heck that load will do 250 yards. I would drop down to like 80g for her. 2413 fps is moving for a BP gun, those are Savage velocies. Chap

You need not go over 1600-1800fps for her to cleanly take a whitetail at a 100yds. I personaly would not go that "hot" for her.I do not know how old your Daughter is or her shooting experince. If she is new to the game, slower is by far better...no point in developing flinchitis right off of the bat...
If she can take the recoil, shoot what is most accurate. But the load you mentioned would be good well out to 200 yards on a whitetail.

Brain fart "“ I should back down for her and check accuracy. Sometimes I have a few bullets to test I forget the big picture, that"™s why I run it by you guys. Maybe she"™ll want to shoot father if she practices but I can bump it up some. Thanks again for pointing out the obvious for me.

On thing I have read about the Knight RED HOTS... the work and expand at any range. They are Barnes Expanders I was told. In fact when I called Knight once with a question about accuracy, they told me to load 100-150 grains of powder and a Barnes Expander. It would be the best load for any Knight Rife.

In my opinion you picked the right bullet. I shoot the 250 and 300gr Knight Red Hot which is a Barnes Expander MZ out of my 50 cal. CVA Wolf. I use 2-50gr Pyrodex pellets and it shoots great. I'd back off the powder and swab after each shot and try to tighten that group up. I'd bet you will be pleased.
