I bought a P A hunter on Gunbroker. I got it today The gun looks good the barrel is clean. The problen is the hammer will not snap the frizzen forward. The hammer out of the gun snapes it just fine installed it will just move it off the pan. The other problen is I cannot move the screw to replace the flint very small slot screw drivere bit I don't think it was ever removed. I think it is going to go back to the seller. I sure can't use it the way it is.

that's too bad. It might be a simple fix, but sitting here with out looking AT the rifle. It is hard to say. Sometimes you just have to send them back. Maybe better luck next time.

over tightening the lock screw maybe? If not, sounds like something is rubbing in the stock and not allowing it to fall freely. Remove the lock and see if you find any signs of rubbing.
Could always send it back for TC and let them figure it out. It might take close to 2 months to get it back, but atleast it will be working when you do get it back.
I don't think you got burned. Just a couple of things to look at or try. first, is the frizzen touching the stock anywhere. Is the flint secure in the jaws of the hammer? Next, apply a little gun grease on the pivot point of the frizzen at the spring (under the pan). Next, install a new flint that strikes the frizzen a bit higher. Yes the screw slot in the hammer screw is very shallow, but there is a small hole in the head of the screw and you can insert a snug fitting allen wrench in the hole to remove the screw. (I never use the slot). If it looks like it was never removed before, it may need a shot of penetrating oil on the threads. You want the flint to just touch the closed frizzen with the hammer at half cock.
Also, if the lock is working well out of the stock, it could be that you are overtightening it and bending the lock just enough. Try just putting the lock in and just snugging up the screw.

You know, When i got this old rustyed up rifle with a lock, i went and took a coffee can, put the lock in it and sprayed the hell out of it with Liquid wrench and let it soak for a couple hours before giving it a few hot soapy baths and scrubbing it. Might just want to spray the insides down a little with some lube. Its actually not a big deal but i know how you feel, been there done that many times.
The hammer will not snap the frizzen foreward if held with just finger pressure in the mortise does not seem to make a difference what amout of pressure is on the lock still will not fire.

How much pressure does it take to open the frizzen with your fingers?

A couple of other points, if you don't like the screw slot, take a small file and file it like you want it, that's how most screws were made, 200 years ago...
On the lock...You may be seeing frizzen bounce, that's where the frizzen bounces back toward the hammer after it flys forward...This is usually caused by a weaker frizzen spring and really doesn't hurt the function of the lock, if it throws good sparks...
