Default Homework Assignment on GPR

Well I finally got my camera battery recharged. This first photo is of my first attempt at flint lock shooting with the new Lyman GPR:

First 2 shots were apain in the a$$ only because of my mistake and pigheaded idea of trying to use Pyrodex instead of the Holy Black! After I came tomy senses, I switched to Goex and the gunoperated theway it was meant to operate.

Now this secondphoto if when I went to 60 grains of Goex and used the upper paste as my point of aim:

I ended up pulling thethirdshot. I had a delayed ignition shot and itscrewed me up. I will be taking the GPR to the range maybe tomorrow. We willhave 60+ degree weather here in the Tidewater areaof Virginia and will take good advantageof it.

Well the groups show a lot of promise. Are you going to kick the charge up any more?

i'd kick it up to 80 grains. My GPR loves 80 grains with a .530 ball and .018 pillow ticking. Cant wait to finish mine up and take her out.

Mine is shooting real tight with both 90 and 95 grains Goex FFFg. I'm using a wonder wad under the patched ball.

Have not gone beyone 100 grains yet (don't know if I really have to).Have not shot it without the wonder wad. Have not shot it over the chronograph.

So much homework left to do - and I still need to do some more shooting with the Mustang. Will the madness never end!

You guys should have seen the .54 Hawken i saw yesterday. The maple was so dark, it was actually a dark blackish green. It was beautiful. I could feel my ass cheek burning where my wallet was

Being a new gun and a new style (FL), I thoughtIwould start out crawling. I will take itout again this week and bump it up in increments of 10 grains. Right now I have only Goex 2F and will swap out for some 3F with a friend. I started out with .490" balls and .010" patches. I have some.495" balls and also have .015" and .018" patches. So Ihave my homework assigment cut out for me!!!

I have an order in for a replacement touch hole liner from RMC. This should help in getting a good light off.
