Cabela's rifles are made by Investarms. Investarms and Lyman are basically the same company. Their rifles are good quality. A friend of mine shoots a Cabela's Hawkins in .54 caliber and it floors the deer. As for the .45 caliber, in a traditional rifle I tend to migrate to the largest caliber I can, for hunting reasons. For target shooting the smaller caliber would be fine. And believe me, a .45 can take deer. You just have to adjust your distance to target.
