Default Another question on the Lyman GPR

Are the barrels interchangeable between the .50 and the .54 caliber? For example could you buy a .54 caliber GPR for shooting round balls and buy a .50 caliber Hunter barrel for it for shooting conicals and sabots?
Thanks, Art

Yes - Green Mtn makes drop in barrels for the Lyman. If you're going to get one for shooting conicals I'd suggest the 1:28 twist.

My7 understanding is the barrels are able to be changed around. They barrel itself is not that expensive. When I was looking at a GPR I also thought of a roundball barrel in .54 and then the conical barrel in .50 so that I had all the bases covered. The Green Mountain 1-28 would shoot sabots and conicals real well..

Thanks for the response. I will have to save my pennies. It seems with that combo you would have the best of both worlds.

I have that exact setup with the 54 GPR and 50 GPH barrels. If you are starting from scratch I would suggest buying the GPH first if the prices are the same because at Midsouth the GPR barrel is cheaper than the GPH. It's not a big difference but every dollar helps. The 1 in 32 barrel does a very good job with conicals and if you get the 57/17 peep sight combo for it you can rival scopes when it comes to accuracy.
