Default hornady great plains 385grs

I picked up a box of the 385gr hphbs yesterday. Any recomendations on charges and types of powder? Use a wad or not? Going to try them in the wmc .50 and the new englander .50. Any suggestions will be appreciated!! Thanks!!!

Thumper50

These shoot very well out of some of my guns, I am shooting them with 75gr - 80gr 2fg loose 777 No wad the bases are designed to to flare out to seal the boar upon powder ignighting a wad will throw Accuracy off .
I can shoot a vey tight Clover leaf at 100yds with thiese .

They shoot well in my new englander with 80/90gr 777 no wad. They do a job on a deer for sure.

They are the best bullet out of my New Englander. I use 90 grains Pyrodex RS. Always a pass through and a dead deer.

I shoot em in a RMC 1/28 twist flinter with great results. I have not dropped the hammer on a deer with one yet but can't see that it would not be anything short of outstandging bullet performance. I have heard that sometimes thay don't track real straight thru game if they don't have some good twist on them though. I use 90-100 grains of Goex and Swiss 3f powders under mine.

The barrel doesn't have a whole lot of rounds through it yet and I shoot a few of them everytime I practice with it. They keep getting more and more accurate so far as the barrel smooths out.
