I was wondering if you guys have a special varmit load for your MZ's. I'm thinking smaller varmits (groundhogs and the like) shooting out to 100 yards or so. As spring approaches, I'd like to stay in practice shooting at live targets

Do you all just use your regular deer/big game loads, or do you work up something different?

I've got some 225 grain PowerbeltssittingaroundI'd like to use up in my .45 - I was thinking 60 - 70 grains loose 777 might be good groundhog medicine...

During the spring and the early summer I shoot ground squirrels in the meadows around here. I use the Hornady 10mm 200 grain XTP, 110 grains of T7-2f... it is an awesome load for squirrel hunting.

I have two varmit loads,in the Omega I chose between a 245 gr PB with 150 gr of RS [will demolish a coyote] and my super accurate load200gr XTP [50/40]with 150 gr RS; with the Omega its 110gr 777 and a 200gr SW very accurate at 150yds. Mostly for varmits you need accuracy if you are going to shoot any distance so a lot of the time its what ever will give a flat trajectory and accuracy to. The exception is calling coyotes where there is heavy cover especally if you call from a tree stand. Lee

For squirrels, rabbits, etc, I use 25grs FFF...

For larger varmits, 40-60 grs FFF....

This is in a .40 caliber Bob Watts flintlock....
