Default My old CVA Apollo amazed me.

Crashed the Blazer yesterday so I had to stay home and decided to get my Old CVA Apollo out (early 1990"™s- not the recall ones) . It has a 2lb trigger so and the stock was touching so I decided to bed the stock. Had to try it tonight. Shot som 240 xtp"™s. and 195 and 200 Dead center. Kind of amazed at how it shot. I got the idea to bed it after shooting my new .45 Kodiak and the stock seems to flex on the rest. This cheap (birch?) stock is fairly sturdy. I was shooting pretty quip because it was dark , cold and I had a rechargeable spotlight. It seemed to shoot every bullet good. Looks like it has some potential. I haven"™t played with it that much and it only shoots up to 100 grains. I was using a 2x-7 Redfield wideview. A better scope and I could aim better (plus it was night). I think it has a chrome-lined barrel and the rifling looks different. Anybody know about this?

thats some great shooting there. Quite a few bullet choices that it likes.

Dont think the cva apollo would have a chrome lined barrel, you dont really see that on to many production rifles. My dads cabelas hawken has it and i love the chrome lining.

Probably be best to call cva and ask them about that.

How many yards was this?

Good shooting with the Apollo. Most CVA barrels are very smooth and shiny. This is probably due to the manufacturing process.

I did a search on google and the Blue book of Gun values said it has a Chrome barrel. Right now I am try to get the breech plug that probable hasn"™t been out in several years. An Ideas? I put some solvent down the barrel set it vertical hoping it will run down into the threads on the breech plug. How about PB blaster?

Ive heard to plug the breech plug hole and fill the barrel with boiling water and let it sit for 10 minutes and then dump it and see if the heat helped loosen it up.

If not, Pull the barrel and use a propane torch to heat the breech plug area evenly for a minute or 2 while your other hand is on the breech plug tool and applying pressure.
