Default T7 Primers compared to Var-Flame



T7 Primers compared to Var-Flame
I shot this a couple of weeks ago, I haven"™t had a chance to duplicate it ut the T7 primer apear to shoot very different from the Var-Flame with small rifle primers
Shooting
50 cal Omega Stainless Laminated Thumbhole
4-12x Swift premier

The var-flame are tighter, but the 777 are not that bad or was there 1 off the black target? Chap Gleason

I don't think you can tell much from the group size without more shooting, but it is very interesting that the POI is so different. If anything, I would have guessed that the T7 primers would have been hotter and generated higher pressure/velocity. The velocities here appeared the same, but with much different POI. That's intriguing.

Good test. Bottom line. Primers affect accuracy. MUST use the same primer that you sighted in with---write it down, if your shooting multiple guns or stick with only one.

I think I want to try to repeat the testwhen weather permits. Shoot a t7 then a Var-flame back and forth. This time I shot Var-flame togehter and t7 together.

Can not say i totally agree. I use 25acp, Remington 209-4's, Cheddite, and Winchester T7 primers and have not really seen a significant difference in any of these other than the amount of crud left in the breech.

The only thing I do not like is the aluminum cup of the Winchester - I much prefer the brass cup of the cheddite or remington...
